- Needed Fabulousness is a web-based donation campaign that allows my interest in impression management to engage a greater audience. It seems many people are managing their images online these days.
- As an interactive component of my current body of work, I have developed this donation fund to purchase, for myself, a designer garment and coordinating accessories to wear to the opening of my next exhibition. Fashion is one means of creating an identity or at least making a certain kind of impression. Just as I must be mindful of the quality of work I produce as an artist, I must also keep in mind my visual impact as a creative individual.
- Since I am seeking support for the purchase of my attire, I think of my future garment as a bit of a costume -- a way of transforming myself by emphasizing my sartorial capability rather than relying on my mass-market capacity. I am offering viewers and visitors of this site a stake in the opportunity I have to make a smashing public impression. So just as I am asking you to appeal to my ego, I am returning the favor. Most contributors will receive their name on a donor wall in the exhibition and on this website.
- My goal is to raise $3000.
- On September 24, 2010, you will be able to see me wearing your donations (the garment and accessories) to the opening of the new art exhibition space, the Visual Arts Center, at the University of Texas at Austin. All donations must be received by midnight, Friday, August 27, 2010.
